Two vets from Barnstaple complete the 194-mile Wainwright Coast to Coast challenge for Brooke.
On 25 April a huge 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal. The government and charities worldwide rallied to help affected communities. However, there were also 1,650 injured, trapped and terrified horses, mules and donkeys who had been working carrying bricks for their owners.
Every day, in some of the world’s poorest communities, there are 100 million working donkeys and horses who carry bricks, concrete, heavy stones and other extremely heavy material in temperatures of up to 60 degrees centigrade (next to brick kilns) for their owners to make a living. The Brooke estimates these hard working animals are burning over 53,000 calories a day.

The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust has recently donated £50,000 to the Brooke, bringing the total it has raised for the charity to over £600,000 in the last 18 years, helping improve the lives of millions of working horses, donkeys and mules across the world.
