Dressage rider Alice Oppenheimer will run the London Marathon next April in aid of Brooke, to raise awareness of working horses and donkeys around the world.
The London Marathon takes place on Sunday 26 April 2020 and attracts runners from all over the world. Alice has supported Brooke for many years and visited the charity’s work in India alongside Global Ambassador Charlotte Dujardin in 2015. More recently, Alice has supported Brooke’s fundraising campaigns MyHackathon and Every Horse Remembered.
I’m really excited to take on this huge challenge and raise awareness of the vital contribution working horses and donkeys make around the world. I was lucky enough to visit Brooke’s work in India in 2015 and I saw the difference that donations can make first-hand.
As someone who is new to running, I know that training will be hard but I’ll be thinking of the amazing animals and people I met on that trip and how this challenge will benefit them and many others around the world.
In February, Alice will be hosting an exclusive event at her yard for all Brooke marathon runners. The event will include tips on nutrition, training and fundraising, and guests will meet Alice and enjoy a tour of her yard.
There are still a number of places available for supporters wishing to run the London Marathon for Brooke and raise awareness of working equines.
Brooke Senior Regional Fundraising Officer Polly West said: “Events like this are vital in raising funds to help Brooke reach working horses, donkeys and mules across the globe. If you think you’ve got what it takes to take on the London Marathon, we still have some charity places available so we’d love to hear from you.”
