At the start of the year, equine vet Ben Portus planned to run what would be his fourth consecutive London Marathon in aid of Brooke, along with the Edinburgh Marathon and Cornwall’s Classic Quarter 44 mile Ultramarathon. Of course, by now we all know that Covid-19 had other plans.

Earlier this year, Brooke West Africa teamed up with its partner Inades-Formation Burkina to install a new borehole in the village of Silmiougou in Burkina Faso, providing clean drinking water to the community and their donkeys, plus three other surrounding villages.

Brooke is once again taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge from Tuesday 1 December to Tuesday 8 December. The UK’s biggest match-funding campaign will give supporters the opportunity to have their donations doubled during this time, with all proceeds going towards Brooke’s vital work in East Africa fighting the cruel trade in donkey skins.
