Brooke virtual quiz raises over £3000

Brooke Patron and broadcaster Alastair Stewart hosted Brooke’s first ever virtual quiz on Wednesday 6 May, raising a total of £3175.

Over 200 supporters took part in the Facebook Live broadcast, including Brooke ambassador Hannah Russell, equestrians William Whitaker and Alice Oppenheimer, and impressionist Rory Bremner. The quiz was free to take part in but supporters were encouraged to donate via Brooke’s JustGiving page.

Like all UK charities, Brooke has been forced to cancel or postpone many of its fundraising events as a result of Coronavirus. However, technology has meant that the charity has been able to get creative and find new ways to connect with supporters and raise funds at this difficult time.

Money raised from the quiz will go towards Brooke’s work across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, bringing positive change to the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules and the communities that depend on them.

Following the success of the first quiz, Brooke has called on the skills of supporter Rory Bremner to host a second quiz at 8pm on Wednesday 20 May.

He said: “I'm delighted to invite Brooke's supporters to join me for an evening of virtual quizzing for a great cause. Now more than ever, working animals and the communities that depend on them are in need of our support. I'd best get practicing, you never know who might show up...”

To take part, head to Brooke’s Facebook page just before 8pm on 20 May and click on the broadcast. You don’t need a Facebook account to take part. For all the details, click here
