Inspiration on what to do with your crafts

Once you’ve finished your beautiful creations, the joy doesn’t have to stop there. Here's some ideas on how your handmade items can bring smiles and raise vital funds.

Gift them to family and friends

There’s something truly special about giving a handmade gift. Each stitch carries your love and care and this Christmas, we’ve designed a Christmas gift label you can print out and attach.

You may also have friends, family and neighbours who would be keen to receive a handmade item in exchange for a donation. If you would like to do this, you can accept donations and pay the money to Brooke.

Fundraise with your crafts

Your creations can do even more good when you use them to raise funds. You might like to set up a stall at a Christmas market, school fete, or village fair. Handmade goods are always in demand, and your knitted, crocheted or stitched items could be the star of the show.

If a full stall feels daunting, keep things simple with:

  • a tombola
  • a festive game like Guess the Name of the Donkey
  • a suggested donation table at a coffee morning or workplace.

Spaces at Christmas markets and fairs fill up fast, so booking early is a great idea. A useful tool to find events near you is Stall Finder

You won’t be alone either - our team can provide Brooke-branded materials, leaflets, and all the guidance you need to make your fundraising a success. If you’d like to run a stall or fundraise in your own way, get in touch at [email protected] or call 020 7653 5820.

Send your crafts to Brooke

If running a stall isn’t possible, you can still make a big difference by sending your creations directly to us. We’ll pass them on to our network of Brooke fundraising groups and volunteers across the country, who are always thrilled to feature handmade items on their stalls.

Supporters like you play a vital role in raising funds. Louise Brown, joint leader of our London and West Kent group, has helped her group raise over £100,000 for Brooke - much of it through selling knitted goods. Your donations really do make a huge difference.

Please send your crafts to:

Brooke Community and Events Team

If possible, include a short note with your name and contact details so we can thank you properly. Sending multiple items in one parcel also helps us manage donations more easily.

Important information

Please note that knitted and crocheted donkeys are handmade decorations/collectables and are not children’s toys. For these items, please ensure you only use Polyester toy filling that complies with safety standards: BS5852, BS1425, and EN71-3.

However you decide to share your crafts, you’ll be helping to raise awareness and funds for working animals who need our support most. We hope you’ve enjoyed the patterns in your pack and are so grateful for your creativity and generosity.
