Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter

Chairman: Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter

Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter is a retired Army officer who spent 37 years in the service including tour on operations in Northern Ireland and Bosnia. He was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards in 1966 and his final appointment was General Officer Commanding London District and the Major General Commanding the Household Division where he oversaw the 100th Birthday celebrations for the Queen Mother and also the funeral of the Princess of Wales. On leaving the Army in 2001 he became the CE of ABF The Soldiers Charity which he steered through a rebrand and retired after 9 years. He is the Immediate Past Master of The Worshipful Company of Farriers, his interests are horses, travel and military history and he particularly enjoys combining all three. In February 2014 he is travelling over the Andes following the route taken by the liberator San Martin in 1817. He and his wife Celia live in Gloucestershire, have 3 grown up children and 3 grandchildren and a couple of horses.

Richard Britten-Long

Richard Britten-Long

Richard has been involved with structured property finance and various investment property companies since the ‘80’s. He started life in The City. He founded The Wichford Plc Group and sold his interest in 2008. He is currently Chairman of Kenswick.

Born in Kenya, he has been involved with game conservation projects his whole life. His own family ranching estate is now Nakuru National Park. He is passionate about horses in particular.

He is a Vice President of Cirencester Park Polo Club. During his polo career, he has been instrumental in raising substantial sums for various charities over a number of years. He joined The Brooke as a Trustee in 2013. He is a member of the Finance Committee and the Africa Liaison Group.

Peter Coe

Peter Coe

Peter has held a number of senior management and board director posts with responsibility for veterinary medicines. He has focused on strategic planning, organisational development and managing change and is a past Chairman of the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.

Peter joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is a member of the Finance Committee and a board member of Brooke Pakistan.

Paul Elphick

Paul Elphick

Paul has a background in finance mainly in the commercial sector, having worked for many organizations across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, as well as Europe and the United States. An independent executive director for the past 20 years, he is also a former Finance Director with the Royal College of Physicians.

Paul joined the board of trustees in 2011. He is the Honorary Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee and has a role working with the board of Brooke Egypt.

First British woman to ride in the Olympic 3 Day Event Team (Mexico Team Gold) 1968. Winner at Badminton Horse Trials 1968 and 1978 and Burghley Horse Trials 1976. Former Chair of British Eventing, Riding for the Disabled Association, currently Council Chair of the British Equestrian Federation. President of the Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy, British Equestrian Trade Association, Caspian Horse Society and Patron Side Saddle Association. Awarded the British Horse Society’s Queen’s Award in 2009. .



Paul Elphick

Angela Horsman

Angela has more than 30 years’ experience in leisure marketing and communications. She worked for Saga, the market leader in services for the over 50s, where she was marketing director for Saga Holidays and then communications director for the Saga Group.

Angela was previously marketing director of London Zoo and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Angela is a member of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Council and its fundraising and communications committee. She is also a trustee director of Anchor Trust, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people. She joined the board of trustees in 2013. She is a member of the Governance Committee and a board member of Brooke Pakistan and Brooke Netherlands.

Ian Kerr

Ian Kerr

Since co-founding the international development charity ActionAid in 1972, Ian has worked extensively in the charity sector and is one of the UK’s leading capital appeal fundraisers. 

He has been involved with over 30 major appeals, trained over 100 fundraisers and led one of the UK’s largest fundraising consultancies. A former fellow of the British Institute of Management, Institute of Financial Accountants and the Institute of Fundraising, Ian is passionate about wildlife conservation and the welfare of animals.

He joined the Brooke as a Trustee in September 2011. He is a member of the Finance Committee.

Sir David Madden

Sir David Madden

Sir David is a retired British diplomat. Ambassador to Greece between 1999 and 2004, he has held various roles in many countries.

Sir David joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is a member of the Governance Committee, is a board member of American Friends of the Brooke and has a role working with the board of Brooke Egypt.

 

Stephen Savage

Stephen Savage

Stephen has been a barrister since 1979 and has held a range of legal and senior posts in the justice system. He was Chairman of Kent Criminal Justice Board and was seconded by the Ministry of Justice in the UK to Romania. In 2007, he volunteered in Zimbabwe, working on local community and animal welfare projects.

Stephen joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is Vice Chairman and chairs the Governance Committee. He is also a board member of Brooke India.

Micheal Seton

Michael Seton


Michael is a veterinarian by training with considerable experience working both in the UK and abroad. Currently Veterinary Officer for the Corporation of London, he spent his early career working in Oman and Swaziland.
 
A former President of the Veterinary Public Health Association, Michael is a member of The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, British Veterinary Association and the British Veterinary Zoological Society.

He joined the Brooke as a Trustee in September 2011
. He is a member of the Governance Committee, the Africa Liaison Group and a board member of Brooke Netherlands. 
Anant Shah

Anant Shah


Anant was a banker until he retired in 2000 to focus his time and energy on charitable and social work. To that end, he has worked with a number of charities in the UK as a Trustee or Adviser; these charities operate mainly in East Africa and India.

He is passionate about the welfare of animals and the alleviation of their suffering. He joined the Brooke as a Trustee in September 2012. He is a member of the Africa Liaison Group.

 

Caroline Stockmann

Caroline Stockmann


Caroline Stockmann is the Chief Financial Officer of Save the Children International, the  charity which delivers international programmes for the Save the Children membership. Caroline’s previous roles have included acting International Director at Sue Ryder Care, Finance and Commercial Director at Southbank Centre, London, Head of Global Business Planning for Novartis Pharma AG and CFO/CIO of Unilever Thailand. Caroline trained and qualified with KPMG, and holds a Diploma in Charity Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
 
She joined the Brooke as a Trustee in September 2012. She is a member of the Finance Committee and a board member of Brooke India. 

 

Stephen Savage

Professor Natalie Waran

Professor Natalie Waran is the Jeanne Marchig Professor of Animal Welfare Education at the Royal School of Veterinary Stuides at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this she was Professor of Animal Welfare, Head of the Department of Natural Sciences and Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences at the Unitec Institute of Technology in New Zealand. She is a board member of Brooke India and Brooke Pakistan.
