Chairman: Major General Peter Davies CB

Peter has a strong sense of the Brooke’s work as a result of his extensive experience working for a number of high profile animal charities.

He was Director General for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and the RSPCA, where he served for 11 years. He has also held many voluntary posts at other charities including Eurogroup for Animal Welfare, Animals in War Memorial Fund and Flora and Fauna.

Peter joined the Brooke as Chairman in 2009.

Denys Bennett

Denys has held a variety of senior management posts during a 26-year career in British Telecom. Following that, he became an independent consultant advising in telecommunications and information technologies.

During the 1990s, Denys became involved in aid and reconstruction projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He joined the Brooke as a Trustee in 2001, is a member of the Finance Committee and a board member of Brooke Pakistan.

Sir Robin Christopher

A British diplomat, Sir Robin was an ambassador to Argentina, Indonesia, Ethiopia and Eritrea before retiring in 2004. He is also trustee of St Matthews Children’s Fund in Ethiopia, Prospect Burma and Redress; Secretary General of the Global Leadership Foundation (GLF) and a Director of Rurelec plc.

Sir Robin joined the Brooke as a Trustee in 2005. He is a member of the Governance Committee and a board member of Brooke India.

Peter Coe

Peter has held a number of senior management and board director posts with responsibility for veterinary medicines. He has focused on strategic planning, organisational development and managing change and is a past Chairman of the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.

Peter joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is the interim Chair of the Finance Committee and a board member of Brooke Pakistan.

Paul Elphick

Paul has a background in finance mainly in the commercial sector, having worked for many organizations across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, as well as Europe and the United States. An independent executive director for the past 20 years, he is also a former Finance Director with the Royal College of Surgeons.

Paul joined the board of trustees in 2011.

Ian Kerr

Since co-founding the international development charity ActionAid in 1972, Ian has worked extensively in the charity sector and is one of the UK’s leading capital appeal fundraisers. 

He has been involved with over 30 major appeals, trained over 100 fundraisers and led one of the UK’s largest fundraising consultancies. A former fellow of the British Institute of Management, Institute of Financial Accountants and the Institute of Fundraising, Ian is passionate about wildlife conservation and the welfare of animals.

He joined the Brooke as a Trustee in September 2011.

Sir David Madden

Sir David is a retired British diplomat. Ambassador to Greece between 1999 and 2004, he has held various roles in many countries.

Sir David joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is a member of the Finance Committee and has a role working with the board of Brooke Egypt.

Sally Nichols

Sally is a consumer marketing specialist with more than 25 years' experience in retail, branded and agency marketing environments.

Since changing career to become an interim manager ten years ago, she has broadened her experience further within the voluntary sector.

Sally joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. She is a member of the Remuneration Committee and also a board member of Brooke Netherlands.

Richard Philip, OBE

Richard worked in veterinary practice in the UK and New Zealand before working for the New Zealand government in the Fiji Islands. He returned to the UK to study Tropical Veterinary Medicine at Edinburgh University. Richard was Jordan Country Director for the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA), working on the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Programme in Cumbria, prior to retirement.

Richard joined the Brooke as a Trustee in 2002. He is a member of the Governance Committee and has special responsibility for trustee liaison with Brooke Jordan.

Patrick Rodier

Patrick has practised law in London and Hong Kong.  His expertise has focused on corporate and company law, joint ventures, strategic alliances and investment. His charitable experience includes volunteering as a Trustee for the Friends of the Tate Gallery and working for the Royal Albert Hall, University of Greenwich, British Board of Agrément (BBA) and the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Patrick joined the Brooke as a Trustee in 2003. He is a member of the Governance Committee and a board member of Brooke Netherlands.

Stephen Savage

Stephen has been a barrister since 1979 and has held a range of legal and senior posts in the justice system. He was Chairman of Kent Criminal Justice Board and was seconded by the Ministry of Justice in the UK to Romania. In 2007, he volunteered in Zimbabwe, working on local community and animal welfare projects.

Stephen joined the Brooke as a Trustee in April 2008. He is Deputy Chairman and chairs the Governance Committee. He is also a board member of Brooke India.
