About us

The Brooke is an international animal welfare organisation committed to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys, mules and their owners.

How are we doing?

Despite a difficult economic climate, our income increased by 12% in 2010/11.

This enabled us to reach more than 1.1 million donkeys, horses and mules worldwide, benefit more than 6 million people who rely on these animals and take us further on our journey to reach 2 million working equine animals by 2016.

Our history

The Brooke was established in 1934 by Dorothy Brooke and is now the leading welfare charity for working equine animals in the developing world.
