Our ambassador

Major Richard Waygood, MBE, has been a Brooke ambassador since 2009, working tirelessly to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules worlwide.

Major Richard Waygood, MBE, became a Brooke Ambassador in October 2009. He held the post of Riding Master for the Household Cavalry (The Life Guards) for seven years; the second longest appointment in its history.

His duties ranged from Queen's Life Guard on Whitehall and escorting the Prince of Wales's wedding procession to stints running the stables at Pirbright and Sandhurst.

Major Richard Waygood was also the first military rider to complete the Badminton Horse Trials in over 20 years. In 2009 he retired and received an MBE by Her Majesty The Queen for services to equestrianism.

Along with being an ambassador for the Brooke, Major Richard Waygood is the Chef d’Equipe to the British Concours International Combiné (CIC) 2Star Event Team, is a British eventing accredited trainer and holds the BHS award of merit.
