Women crouching down with donkeys

What we do

Brooke works with communities across the world to transform the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules. We drive lasting improvements in animal health and welfare through action, advocacy and education.

Every day, over 100 million working horses, donkeys and mules provide vital support to an estimated 600 million people, in some of the poorest places in the world.

Lasting change

Our work

Every action we take focuses on improving the lives of working animals and the communities they live in, to create sustainable change.

We do this through:

Two donkeys lean over a fence

Our impact

This is how we create lasting change for horses, donkeys and mules:

1.8m

horses, donkeys and mules helped directly

Millions

more animals helped through our campaigns

2.8m

people supported with animal care

Our expertise

With more than 90 years of experience and over 600 members of staff - including vets, animal welfare experts and community development specialists - we make sure our work:

  • Is grounded in evidence
  • Happens in partnership with communities
  • Creates practical solutions to make life better for every working animal.
Brooke how we make a difference

"Brooke is an animal welfare organisation that believes in taking a joined-up approach – recognising that the wellbeing of people, animals and the planet are all connected. The impact of our work extends far beyond individual animals, creating a ‘ripple effect’ through entire countries."
