Your monthly gift can help us work with communities to prevent donkey theft, track illegal movement and strengthen cross-border coordination. We also train owners to protect their animals and build safe shelters, keeping donkeys secure.

For years, Elijah’s donkeys carried water, feed and materials, making it possible for him to farm and support his family.

One night, thieves took them. By morning, both were found stripped of their skin and flesh. The pain and fear they must have endured is unthinkable.

At 64, Elijah now carries heavy loads alone and has been forced to sell most of his cows. Seeing the cart they once pulled still brings him to tears.

Thieves entered Elijah’s compound at night, cut through his fence, and stole both donkeys from their shelter.

“We are losing donkeys in our villages. We have communities that are waking up each day to find their donkeys gone. They find their donkeys dead and their skin removed. Killed brutally, because the thieves want the skin.”

How will my donation be spent?

By starting a regular gift today you'll directly be helping those affected by the donkey skin trade and our fight to end it.

For a  period of six calendar months (starting from the month you donate) your donations will directly support  Brooke’s global work to stop the donkey skin trade. This includes protecting donkeys and the people who rely on them, strengthening laws and enforcement, and driving advocacy to challenge the trade and help bring it to an end worldwide. 

After six months from the date of your donation, your gifts will be distributed across all of Brooke's work where the need is greatest, helping working horses, donkeys and mules. Gift Aid on all donations will be unrestricted.
