Sir Peter O'Sullevan dies aged 97

Brooke Patron Sir Peter O’Sullevan has died peacefully at home at the age of 97.

Sir Peter O'Sullevan

Sir Peter was a legendary BBC commentator for 50 years, a tenure stretching from 1947 until his retirement in 1997. The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust recently donated £50,000 to the Brooke, bringing the total it has raised for the charity to over £600,000 in the last 18 years, helping improve the lives of millions of working horses, donkeys and mules across the world.

“The Brooke is immensely sad to hear this news. Sir Peter became Patron of the Brooke in 1999 and was heavily involved with the charity, visiting our work overseas, supporting fundraising appeals and raising over £600,000 for the Brooke through his own Charitable Trust. His passion for horses shone through in everything he did and he cared deeply about the welfare of the 100 million working horses, donkeys and mules around the world. We will miss him.”

Petra Ingram, Chief Executive of Brooke
