Climb Kilimanjaro
Look out from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, 'the roof-top of Africa', and raise funds for the Brooke's work with working horses, donkeys and mules.
Climb Kilimanjaro: various dates available 2012 - 2013
Set yourself the challenge of a lifetime and conquer Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest mountain in Africa, while raising vital funds for the Brooke.
The challenge
En route to Mount Kibo at 5,895 metres, you’ll experience a diverse ecosystem from cultivated farmland on the lower levels, through lush rainforest and alpine meadow, to a barren lunar landscape at the top. Temperatures drop at night, allowing you to enjoy the crisp, cool air under the star-studded African skies.
The expedition has been carefully planned to ensure that you acclimatise as much as possible to the altitude so your chances of making it to the top are maximised. The tour operator we have chosen has one of the highest success rates of trekkers reaching the summit, but don’t underestimate the challenge ahead.
On the final night before the summit climb, you will rise at around midnight to commence the final trek in moonlight. This is likely to be the toughest day that most trekkers have ever experienced but reaching the summit and watching the sunrise will be an experience you’ll never forget.
