Pritchard, JC. (2010, in press) Animal traction and transport in the 21st Century: Getting the priorities right

This paper discusses the expanding geographical range of donkeys in certain parts of the world, and how this ‘invisible’ workforce relates to the various agendas such as food security and poverty alleviation set by international development agencies. Furthermore, the role of science - and veterinary science in particular - in supporting the contribution made by working animals to people's livelihoods is also considered.
