Pakistan Team

Dr Syed Zahir Ali Shah did his MSc (Hons) in Animal Husbandry from NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar with specialisation in Animal Breeding and Genetics in 1998. He joined Brooke in 2002 and has since been working on a special programme called Brick Kilns Community Empowerment. He helped initially with Welfare Assessments and was then selected as a Risk Assessor in 2005. He has visited Afghanistan, India, Ethiopia and Kenya for training and workshops and wrote a paper on the brick kilns Peshawar. He is proud to serve the poorest equine communities.

Naeem joined the Brooke in June 2006 with a background in sociology and research. He belongs to an agricultural family and has always liked animals. He is based in Pakistan and has been involved in different research studies in various communities all over Pakistan.

Ahmad Omer Chaudhary joined the Brooke in June 2006 with a degree in sociology and a master’s degree in Computer Science. He has carried out research with the University of the Punjab and has also worked in human development programmes and internationally supported developmental studies.

Dr. Muhammad Javaid Khan joined The Brooke in 1998. He passed his DVM in 1997 with distinction. He belongs to an agricultural family of NWFP. Apart from very good veterinary treatment knowlege and skills, he has good experience in community interaction. He has the ability to adjust and work in any situation and has assissted Chirstine Broster (University of Bristol) in the Lameness Assessment Project before becoming a Risk Assessor. He was one of Brookes Pioneer Team Leaders in launching Relief activities in Earthquake hit area in 2005 in Pakistan and he served to provide relief to the war affected animals coming from Afghanistan on the border area in 2001.

Dr Sher Nawaz graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He joined Brooke Peshawar in December 1993 just after his post graduation in Animal Husbandry. He was fond of skiing during his school days when he was in Chitral. Dr Nawaz was a key part of the team that helped during the aftermath of the Pakistan earthquake. HIs main role in Brooke is as manager of the Mardan centre.

Dr. Javed Iqbal Gondal joined the Brooke in June 1999, having graduated in veterinary medicine in 1998, MBA ( Executive) in 2006. He has secured merit scholarship through his career. Dr. Javed Iqbal Gondal belongs to an agricultural family and he loves animals.

Major Habib joined the Brooke in 1993 having graduated in veterinary medicine in 1968. He served in the Pakistan Army for 24 years, gaining much experience in treating equines and in  their training and management. Major Habib has many years experience of horse riding in the army and worked as an instructor in the Army Equitation School. His main role in Brooke is as manager of the Gujranwala centre.

Mr Jamil Said joined Brooke on 24 June 1998. He works as a driver and helped RA Team during Lip Lesion Risk Assessment data collection in Mardan.

Mr. Muhammad Usman joined Brooke on 21st March 2000. He works as Syce and helped RA Team during Lip Lesion Risk Assessment data collection in Mardan.

Mr. Abbas Shah joined Brooke on 28th Dec 2005. He works as a Veterinary Assistant and helped RA Team during Lip Lesion Risk Assessment data collection in Gujranwala.

Mr. Amjid Khan joined Brooke on 29st May 2000. He works as a Veterinary Assisstant and  helped RA Team during Saddle Sores Risk Assessment data collection in Brick Kilns Peshawar.

Mr. Zanzirullah joined Brooke on 16st Oct 1996. He works as Syce and helped RA Team during Saddle Sores Risk Assessment data collection in Brick Kilns Peshawar.

Mr. Rahmatullah joined Brooke on 1997. He works as a Veterinary Assisstant and helped RA Team during "Shoulder, wither, spine, girth and Hind limb Lesions" Risk Assessment data collection in Brick Kilns Multan.

Mr. Muhammad Sarwar joined Brooke on 1997. He works as a driver and helped RA Team during "Shoulder, wither, spine, girth and Hind limb Lesions" Risk Assessment data collection in Brick Kilns Multan.
