Vet & Community Awards: winners and nominees

Our work wouldn't be possible without the Brooke's team of dedicated staff in the field. All of them have demonstrated an outstanding devotion towards the improvement of equine health and welfare.

Pakistan: Major Asim, Pakistan Expansion Initiative:
The Peter O'Sullevan Fellowship Award

This is a special award to recognise a particular project or initiative that has been shortlisted by the Brooke’s International Department as having made a difference or impact on the ground. The project concerned might be small or large, but must be one that promotes innovative, practical work.

The winner was the Brooke's Pakistan Expansion Initiative led by Major Asim. This initiative enables the Pakistan Country Programme to reach out to the working equine animals engaged in 'high risk' work in the urban centres of Karachi, Jaffrabad and Jacobabad. By partnering with local government veterinary services in Karachi, Brooke Pakistan has been able to develop a presence and standing in the south of Pakistan, and has already succeeded in improving the welfare and working conditions of animals in the major cities in which they have established projects.
