Pakistan celebrates World Animal Day

In 2008, Brooke worked with Richmond Crawford Veterinary Hospital in Karachi to organise two events marking World Animal Day.

The main objective was to celebrate animal life, and to acknowledge the great contribution given by working animals – who cannot themselves ask for recognition.

Pakistan celebrates World Animal Day

Loyal and long-standing partners

By holding special events to celebrate mankind’s relationship with animals - the companionship they provide and the practical support they give us through their labour, Brooke hopes to contribute to the prevention of suffering arising from poor care or overworking.

This objective is supported at the highest level in Pakistan. For example, a representative from the Government of Sindh (one of four Pakistani provinces) joined animal owners to speak at the two events.

They also took part in the ‘walk of solidarity’, showing support for Brooke and the work we undertake to improve the lives of working animals and their owners.

A shining example

Brooke is now the largest animal welfare organisation in Pakistan, providing free treatment and passing on the benefits of preventive husbandry in all four provinces of the country.

With your continued support, we’ll be able to reach even more animals and ensure they have a life free from suffering.
