I would like to give the Brooke a regular donation. How do I set this up?
Giving a regular gift is a great way to support our work as it means that we can plan our future work safe in the knowledge that we have the funds to reach our commitments. Your regular gift will make a big difference to the lives of many working horses, donkeys and mules.

What are the other ways that I can donate to the Brooke?
There is a wide range of methods by which you can make a donation to the Brooke. You can give a one-off gift, sponsor someone in an event, give in lieu of presents or leave us a gift in your Will.

Is it possible to donate to a specific project?
Yes, you can donate to a specific project, but the administration costs involved in directing funds in this way are quite high. We feel it is important that a minimal amount of money is spent on the administration of donations, so that more funds go towards helping the working horses and donkeys in poor communities, who really need it.
If you would like further information on how to support a specific project, please contact the Major Gifts Team on 020 79300210.
By directing funds to our work in general, you enable us to have the flexibility to provide the right type of help at the right time, where it is needed most. It also can give us the security to plan future projects to help animals and the poor people who rely on them, in new areas or ways. We do understand that our supporters want to know what difference their gift will make.

Can I support the Brooke by sending a Gift in Kind abroad?
Although we are very grateful for the thought and effort behind collecting lots of tack and equipment, the fact is that the monetary cost of sending it abroad would be far greater than its actual value and the time taken to organise this. In the past, we have found that a lot of sorting has to be done at the other end because much of the equipment is not appropriate for the circumstances of the animals we support – it might not be the right size or be beyond restoring condition. Staff have also found it difficult to decide to whom they should give donated items. Everyone is deserving but they see hundreds of people and it gets tricky choosing. All this also takes up valuable time. On other occasions, equipment which is in good condition and sent overseas has been stolen en route. So we just can't win!
If the items you have collected are in good condition, we would rather you sell them and donate the proceeds to the Brooke. That would be the most useful way to dispose of the items. |
