What's next

Once data has been analysed it provides the Brooke, partner organisations and the equine owning communities with a unique insight into the problems facing animals in the area where the assessment was carried out.

When analysing results account is taken of the number or percentage of animals suffering from each welfare issue, the severity of each issue and the estimated time animals may have been suffering from each condition.

Following an assessment the results are disseminated to a number of stakeholders which may include the equine owning community, Brooke staff and partner organisation staff.

Once data has been analysed it provides Brooke, partner organisation staff and the communities we work with, with a unique insight into the welfare of the equines assessed.  The results can be used:
• as a baseline, against which results in the future can be compared to see what changes have occurred
• to inform intervention planning
• to set targets
• as a tool to monitor and evaluate projects from the animal’s point of view
