Gulshad KhanGulshad Khan

Gulshad joined the Brooke in 1996 as a Veterinary Officer. He first became involved in Welfare Assessment when it started in 2002. Gulshad comes from a farming background and every morning before breakfast he would take his cow to the high pasture where he would be able to watch her from under the big olive tree which served as his primary school. Being involved in Welfare Assessments has given Gulshad a deeper understanding of welfare and has also increased his confidence and patience.


Umair AhmadUmair Ahmad

Umair joined the Brooke in 2002 and has been working as a Veterinary Officer, and recently joined the Welfare Assessment team. He enjoys the Welfare Assessment work and feels that he has gained a great deal from being part of the team. “I have learnt a lot about soft/gentle handling of animals, their behaviour (how they feel and behave etc.)”. He loves to play sport such as squash, table tennis and running.


Kirpa RamKirpa Ram

Kirpa qualified from the College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore in 1997 and joined the Brooke in 2001. He feels that the Welfare Assessment is a useful and objective means of investigating the welfare issues faced by working equines. He is married with a young son.
