Meet the people and their animals

Many people across the developing world are united by one key fact; they rely on their horse, donkey or mule to work for their income and survival.

Whether working animals are carting bricks around the brick kilns of Pakistan, transporting goods to the markets of Kenya, or working as ambulances and taxis in Afghanistan, they are all vital and precious assets to their owners. Below are some examples of how different animal owners' lives can be, but how important animals are to every single one of them and how the Brooke helps.

Vinod Kumar, animal owner, India
The Brooke has been helping me. The doctors treat my animals when they are sick and when the saddle causes wounds. The Brooke also provides good, cheap shoes. Without the Brooke, I could not earn money. I have to support my wife, daughter and six grandchildren. I cannot afford to get my animals treated at a private vet. The animals would then fall sick and die.
