Volunteering

Volunteering is a fantastic way to become involved with the Brooke and is great fun too! Whether you take part in fundraising events or help out in our London office, you can be sure that your enthusiasm and hard work will help to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules overseas; thus protecting the livelihood of countless poor people in developing countries who depend on those animals to earn a living.

Volunteer in our offices

We have several volunteers working in our London head office and we would love to have more, so if you would like to help out our Fundraising, Communications, Finance, IT, PR, Legacies, HR, or Supporter Services Teams, please call us on 020 7930 0210 or email volunteering@thebrooke.org.

Volunteering in our Amsterdam office in the Netherlands is another option, just email info@brooke.nl or call +31-20-6709229 for more information.

Volunteer in the field

Due to the specialist nature of our work the Brooke does not offer volunteer opportunities for overseas placements. All of our vets are fully qualified and other staff members are all professionally trained. Almost all Brooke staff working directly with communities are nationals of the countries in which we operate. This enables us to support the local economy, it also means that our staff are fluent in the local language and understand the nuances of the local culture and dialects.

As a general operational policy, we do not accept UK veterinary students for work experience. This is because of work permit and national veterinary registration restrictions. All our capacity for registered students is taken up and is actually over-subscribed by students at universities in our countries of operation.
