Our reports
We want to do all we can to help relieve the suffering of working animals in poor communities around the world. The Brooke is committed to expanding our work, to help reach our goal of helping two million working horses, donkeys and mules every year by 2016.
Thanks to the wonderful and generous support of our donors – and those who chose to remember the Brooke with a gift in their Will – we raised just over £13million in 2009/2010; an 11 per cent increase on the previous 12 months.
The charts (right) show how these funds were raised and how they were used. More than 66 per cent is spent directly on funding our programmes overseas, enabling us to help more than 742,000 working animals across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
To reach our 2016 goal, we are investing in our fundraising activities to increase the number of supporters who help us, and to raise awareness of our vital work.
Last year, for every £1 received, we re-invested 27 pence into finding new supporters and raising further funds – this will enable us to reach even more suffering animals, and ensure we can sustain our work well into the future.
We are always very mindful how we spend our income, and ensure that our fundraising activities are as effective and efficient as possible. Last year we raised almost £4 for every £1 we spent on fundraising activity.
Your donations will help us expand our work in existing countries and in new countries where working horses, donkeys and mules are most in need.
