Latest appeals - help the Brooke tackle tetanus

Tetanus is a devasting disease which often affects horses and donkeys in poorer countries. Read about the causes and symptons of tetanus here. The Brooke have developed a three-point action plan to tackle tetanus:

Tetanus treatment1. Carry out widespread vaccination programmes to stop animals becoming infected

2. Make effective treatment available to stop the suffering of infected animals

3. Show people how to look after their animals, and explain that certain traditional remedies are harmful.

How you can help

A simple tetanus vaccination can cost as little as 72p and can give an animal lifelong immunity to tetanus. Anything you can give will make a huge difference:

£15 could provide vaccinations for 20 animals in Kenya, giving them lifelong immunity.

£30 could help provide anti-serum drugs for 83 animals with tetanus in Egypt

£60 could pay for 10 training sessions in Pakistan, showing owners how to groom and care for their animals and protect them from wounds that could cause tetanus.

£100 could keep a mobile vet team on the road for a week in India, enabling them to vaccinate working horses and donkeys at risk of tetanus.
