Everyone can help a horse in need during July is the clear message from the Brooke, the UK's leading overseas equine welfare charity. The charity is appealing to the public to sign up to its month-long Horses in Need 2007 initiative, and help end the suffering of millions of horses and donkeys worldwide.
Horses in Need 2007 marks the third year of the Brooke's successful fundraising campaign. This year it has a special online feature with the introduction of personal fundraising web pages to encourage even more people to get involved, and make this the biggest Horses in Need year yet for the Brooke.
Everyone that signs up will automatically have an online personal fundraising page, and it couldn't be easier - register online and invite friends, family and colleagues to join in or donate. There is also the opportunity to share pictures, videos and fundraising tips. People can register over the telephone 0845 367 0999.
And if that's not a big enough incentive, the Brooke is also offering dedicated fundraisers the chance to win a host of exciting prizes. Anyone raising more than £20 will automatically be entered into a prize draw for a fantastic Nile cruise holiday for four people courtesy of Discover Egypt*. Better still, all those with truly original fundraising ideas will also have the chance to win further prizes.
Organise a sponsored ride, bake and sell cakes, or hold a summer picnic - there are lots of ways to get involved. The Brooke will also provide a fundraising pack full of ideas and tips to get people started.
Last year thousands of people took part, holding events at work, school, riding clubs and stables, including scores of sponsored 'Hobby Horse Grand Nationals' around the country. As a result the entire campaign raised over £150,000, which helped reach nearly 28,000 horses and donkeys.
